Gorgon LNG is a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Western Australia involving the development of the Greater Gorgon gas fields and a LNG plant on Barrow Island, which lies some 140 km west of Karratha off the Pilbara Coast of Western Australia.
With a four year construction timeframe, some 3,500 construction workers on-site and a budget of $43 Billion this makes Gorgon the single largest construction project to date.
Meales Concrete Pumping has been engaged by Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) to place concrete for two large concrete LNG silos starting in late 2010 and continuing for approximately 2½ years. With the silos measuring 90 metres in diameter and a standing height of over 45m, three large 58m boom pumps will be used to construct the walls and a 36m placing boom mounted on the roof will complete the structures.
The addition of three Putzmeister 58m boom pumps to the Meales fleet strengthens our ability to offer our customers the largest range of concrete pumping equipment in Australia.
