Curtis Island LNG projects, Gladstone 02/04/2012

We are very pleased to announce that Bechtel Constructions has awarded Meales’ Gladstone operation the concrete pumping packages for all three LNG projects situated on Curtis Island, Gladstone.

Bechtel has placed its confidence in Meales by engaging us for:

  • QCLNG – Queensland Curtis Liquefied Natural Gas
  • GLNG – Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas
  • APLNG – Australian Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas.

Each project requires the placement of approximately 120,000m3 of concrete over a period of two years.  We will use 2 x 47m pumps and one smaller unit to complete each project.

With our longstanding local presence in the Gladstone market, Bechtel felt reassured of our ability to offer additional equipment to meet short term peak demands, equipment and personnel backup and maintenance and servicing requirements.

Along with servicing Bechtel’s requirements, Meales is also engaged with many other Tier One Contractors performing other aspects of the construction for these projects including:

  • John Holland – QCLNG and GLNG Material off loading and Jetties.

Meales PNG 30/03/2012

After 18 months of servicing the concrete pumping market of Port Moresby PNG, Meales PNG is building a strong reputation for suppling reliable, prompt and safe concrete pumping services to the local contractors of Port Moresby.

Having adopted the same philosophies that we have built our Australian operations around, Port Moresby contractors can see the time and cost saving benefits of using concrete pumps, where previously the slower method of crane and kibble may have been used.

As a result, Meales PNG has been fortunate to be involved in all new projects that have commenced in the last 18 months.

Curtis Island LNG Full Steam Ahead 25/01/2012

Gorgon LNG, Barrow Island WA, Update 17/01/2012

The arrival in July 2010 of two new 58m Putzmeister 5-stage boom pumps on Barrow Island, 60 kms off the mid-WA coast, heralded the start of construction works by CB&I on the Gorgon LNG tank bases.

Meales’ operators promptly and enthusiastically put the two machines to use.

The additional reach of the 58m Putzmeisters has been perfect for this project, as it has allowed all sections of these enormous tank foundations to be poured from the end of the boom with no additional hose.  As a result, the pour rates for the high-strength concrete have been excellent and large pours have been completed in a timely fashion.

To coincide with the start of vertical wall pours, the arrival of a third 58m boom pump is expected in coming months.  All three long-reach booms will then be kept busy pouring wall sections of 700m3 per pour.

At the completion of the walls, a Putzmeister MX36 placing boom will be mounted to pour the roof segments.
